A discovery of fabrics containing aloe vera capsules inspired Biomod's co-founder, President and CEO Karine Théberge to investigate how she might apply a more scientific approach to the concept. Isabelle Goudreault, co-founder and Théberge's vision was to develop a new type of active ingredient delivery system and a method for imprinting the delivery system onto textiles. Following years of exhaustive research and testing, Biomod's revolutionary technologies were born: the Biomimetic MicroVector or BMV™, and a new proprietary imprinting process.
How BMV™s Work
Due to biomimetic lipidic components, the instant BMV™s make contact with the skin, they merge seamlessly with the skin's structure and begin the prolonged release of actives.
At this stage, Biomod's specialized delivery process already begins to demonstrate its unique power. In order to begin working, BMV™s do not have to burst once on contact with the skin - unlike other delivery systems. The vectors slowly and steadily penetrate the skin's layers as they progressively dissolve and release actives. Their structures remain intact, maintaining their effectiveness at every stage.
As each individual's skin profile is unique, BMV™ technology also creates an epidermal reservoir to store actives waiting to be absorbed. Working with the skin's fundamental needs, actives are then fed to the skin only as required. This further prolongs and enhances the effectiveness of actives and results in a truly personalized process. Yet another innovative feature of Biomod's BMV™s is its programmability. The vectors can accommodate any combination of actives, including a client's own custom blend; they can also be programmed for various rates, lengths and depths of diffusion. The entire delivery process is executed without the use of water. The biomimetic lipidic components of BMV™s nourish and hydrate the skin by supplying it with only concentrated, essential ingredients.
Delivering BMV™s: Introducing SkInfusion™ Dry Masks
With BMV™ technology now perfected, Biomod continued to innovate. More creative thinking and scientific advancements led to the development SkInfusion™: Biomod's BMV™ application system.
SkInfusion™ products are topically applied textiles that deliver BMV™s to the skin. Known by the trade name Dry Masks, SkInfusion™ products are created by imprinting actives-loaded BMV™s onto textile via Biomod's proprietary imprinting process.
The imprinting process results in a uniquely textured imprint that is soft, smooth, and balm-like. When a dry mask is applied, this texture is transferred to the skin, resulting in a user experience that is comfortable, clean, convenient and highly effective.
Since the entire design process of SkInfusion™ Dry Masks is executed in-house, Biomod is able to offer an exclusive collection of textiles that answer customer-specific requirements. The Dry Masks can be fashioned into virtually any design, turning them into highly customized, zone-specific applicators.
